In a small village at an altitude of 1400 m above sea level, Torgnon, in the Cervinia valley, the studio Italia and Partners signed the project for a welcoming and functional holiday home, which would maintain all the spirit of the place together with functionality and an intimate feeling of “refuge”, warm and welcoming.
The made-to-measure furnishings and design pieces contrast pleasantly with details that tell a local history and tradition: from the celebratory prints of Cervinia, original from the 1950s, by Arnaldo Musati, with oak frames made from old wooden beams salvaged from huts in the area, to the furniture from the 1940s and objects such as the leather compass or the brush used to card wool, resting on the iron and stone coffee table in the reading area, dominated by the bottle green velvet armchair by Bonaldo that invites you to relax next to the bio-fireplace.
The main design challenge was to create a second bedroom, without penalizing the living area, keeping it spacious enough. To achieve this result, the kitchen was moved, creating a room in communication with the living room, with sofa and TV area, which can be closed if necessary thanks to a sliding door.
The dominant element is the brushed smoked oak, which recurs both in the flooring and in most of the furniture, combined with typical materials of the mountain environment, such as stone that covers part of the kitchen, as well as iron and glass.
