Casa Giuria

Q&A Studio, together with architect Giovanni Antico, designed Casa Giuria, a renovation project that weaves historical memory with a contemporary language, breathing new life into a Liberty-style building in the heart of Turin. Located on Via Giuria, in the San Salvario district, the 90-square-meter residence was reimagined while preserving much of its original layout and highlighting traces of the past through authentic and poetic details.

During the works, a frescoed vault was uncovered in the study area, freed from the layers that once concealed it, and today integrated into the design as a precious feature. The interiors create a dialogue between historical stratifications and bold new interventions: the two new bathrooms, for instance, adopt striking tones such as Klein blue and a refined sandy beige, crafted in pigmented cement micro-mortar treated with a water-repellent finish for durability.

The living area was redefined through the demolition of the wall separating the kitchen and living room, resulting in an open, fluid space centered around a convivial island. Here, materials and colors engage in elegant contrasts: steel, reflecting and amplifying natural light, combines with the deep shades of Commodore green.

Particular attention was given to the restoration of the original interior doors, which were refinished and repainted to preserve the Liberty imprint of the building. The only exception is the flush-to-wall door concealing the entrance to the secondary bathroom, chosen to respect stylistic continuity. Details such as the reopening of a former condominium access—now serving as a storage niche—reveal the layered history of the dwelling. For the furnishings, an eclectic approach was adopted, allowing antique and contemporary pieces to coexist effortlessly, while the lighting relies on iconic elements that enhance the spaces with understated elegance.
