Beyond window frames: Capoferri tailor-made approach to architecture

Craftsmanship, technological innovation and experimentation on materials have been the DNA of Capoferri for over 130 years, a company that over the years has become a reference point in the universe of design and production of made-to-measure windows and doors. Founded in 1894 as a carpenter’s workshop, the company has evolved through five generations, starting from
the traditional manufacture of wood to the innovative processing with stainless steel, ballistic steel and bronze, expanding into international markets until the opening of its New York office in 2018.

Thanks to its great expertise, the company is able to develop high-performance window and door systems capable of responding to the most complex demands. An emblematic example is the renovation of the monumental windows of the Salone dei Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Through this intervention Capoferri has demonstrated a perfect fusion of craftsmanship, technology and respect for the historical heritage. The project, carried out on the 130th anniversary of the company and donated to the City of Florence, required the replacement of the eight large windows of the famous Hall, according to strict directives of the Superintendence to maintain the original proportions, materials and aesthetics.

To do this, Capoferri developed a system of mixed wood and steel windows and doors, guaranteeing maximum visual lightness combined with high structural and thermal performance. The monumental windows, made entirely to measure, comprise three different models: casement windows with motorised opening, manual lift and motorised sliding windows, all designed to guarantee an optimal internal microclimate and maximum protection of the precious works of art in the room. In addition, the hardware, sensors and motorisation were custom-made in the Capoferri workshops, demonstrating once again the company’s ability to offer unique and innovative solutions.
