Art Hotel Navigli in Milano: matter, art and contemporaneity through Friul Mosaic’s work

Between the timeless charm of the Navigli and the creative energy of Milan’s design, fashion and furniture scene, the Art Hotel Navigli welcomes its guests in elegant and functional surroundings, embellished with significant artistic touches. The mosaic created by Friul Mosaic during the renovation of the ground floor lobby is part of this visual journey.

The project was created at the specific request of the owners and entrusted to architect Biagio Forino, with the aim of adding character and value to the renovation work. The idea for the mosaic was developed in order to add a distinctive element to the project, capable of interacting with the hotel’s art collection and reinforcing its aesthetic identity through a contemporary language. High-quality materials were chosen for its creation, combining marble, natural stone and Venetian enamels in a dynamic and refined way.

The mosaic was created using the reverse technique on paper, reinterpreted in a modern key thanks to the use of tiles of different sizes, ranging from tiny to larger pieces, creating rhythm, depth and a strong visual impact. Friul Mosaic, a workshop specialising in the design and production of customised artistic mosaics, worked closely with the architect, providing craftsmanship and design expertise to translate the initial idea into a contemporary, experimental mosaic work that blends perfectly into the space, enhancing the lobby and creating, through materials and technique, a successful dialogue between tradition and modernity.
