In the San Jacopino district of Florence rises The Social Hub Firenze Belfiore. The building occupies a strategic location, just a few steps from the future high-speed train station and the tram connection to the airport, establishing itself as a new hub of metropolitan sociality and creativity. Within this evolving urban landscape, Rizoma Architetture developed the interior design concept and the project for the large rooftop park, shaping a complex and innovative intervention that intertwines architecture, urban landscape, and new forms of social interaction.
The project is founded on the principle of Design for People, placing the individual and their relationship with space at the core of the design process. Every environment is conceived to foster connection, exchange, and a sense of belonging, maintaining a continuous coherence between public and private spaces, interiors and exteriors. The reading of the urban context—Florence as a city of creativity, culture, and craftsmanship—constitutes the conceptual matrix of the project, guiding formal and material choices in a contemporary and sustainable way.
The interior identity is defined by authentic and durable materials: marble, terracotta, reclaimed stone, and natural finishes dialogue with light and the movement of people, generating warm, elegant, and functional spaces. On the first floor, more than 3,200 square meters of coworking areas form a true creative hub, structured around inner courtyards and sculptural volumes. These spaces are designed to welcome students, professionals, and temporary residents. The project translates The Social Hub’s philosophy—combining hospitality, education, and co-living—into architectural form.
A key element of the intervention is the rooftop park on the fourth floor, a new public terrace of over 7,000 square meters, conceived as a suspended urban landscape. With more than sixty plant species and a sequence of pathways, resting areas, and event spaces, the roof becomes an open and accessible place. The park represents a unique example on a national level—a green platform that returns collective space to the city, enhancing environmental quality and contributing to the regeneration of the neighborhood.
