Antonelli

The studio davide minervini | ARCHITECT designed ANTONELLI, the renovation of a 1960s apartment located in the heart of Turin, reimagining the spaces for a young couple and creating a project that blends formal essentiality with expressive identity.

The intervention concerns an 80-square-meter residence, originally laid out as a three-room apartment with a habitable kitchen and two bedrooms, one of which had been converted into a living room. The clients did not require a second bedroom but wanted to connect the kitchen with the living area, reflecting a contemporary lifestyle where cooking and conviviality tend to merge. The design response was a complete redefinition of the floor plan.

The former dining room with kitchenette, facing the inner courtyard, has been transformed into the bedroom. The two street-facing rooms were combined to create a spacious, airy living area where the kitchen and bookcase stand opposite each other as focal elements. These two colorful volumes are set within a deliberately neutral and calming context.

The living area now benefits from a dual outlook onto a public green space, enhanced by two large French windows that add elegance and visual depth to the environment. Eliminating the old corridor—almost 8 square meters of unusable space—allowed for the creation of a laundry/storage area and a separate pantry. Thanks to this solution, the kitchen wall could remain free of overhead cabinets, preserving its linearity and architectural character.

In the new bedroom, once the location of the kitchenette, a space has been dedicated to a ceramic workshop, a small passion of the clients.

The bathroom, retained in its original position, has been reorganized according to principles of essentiality. The flooring is in cocciopesto, a natural and non-toxic material whose tone recalls the original paving, removed to meet system requirements.

The entrance, hallway, bathroom, and bedroom incorporate bespoke carpentry, designed to make the most of niches and recesses with wardrobes, cabinets, shelving, and work surfaces.

The entire apartment is defined by a warm palette, dominated by the neutral tones of light hemp-colored walls, which give the interiors a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere while maintaining formal coherence. Some original features, initially hidden—such as the lowered concrete beam in the entrance—were uncovered and enhanced.
