Abitzai brings its Mediterranean identity to Cersaie 2025 with two new collections, Mimesis and Reta, previewed in Hall 25, stand B135. The brand name, which in ancient Sardinian dialect means “to keep alive, to enliven, to sow”, encapsulates the company’s philosophy: to promote the cultural roots of the Mediterranean with a contemporary and innovative approach.
The Mimesis collection, designed by Celestino Sanna and part of the Origini line, draws inspiration from the mechanisms of mimicry found in nature. Corals, algae and calcareous sponges become compositional models that transform tiles into design tools: each element becomes a small mathematical model, designed to create customised and harmonious combinations. Produced in the 60×120 cm size and available in seven shades – Perla, Cannella, Celadon, Cenere, Fossile, Rena and Cotto – Mimesis combines aesthetics and functionality, offering design ideas capable of transforming spaces into unique environments in perfect harmony with the natural context.
The Reta collection, designed by Andrea Mamo and Lorena D’Ilio of Studio Mamo, interprets the Mediterranean as a network of connections between cultures, territories and people. The name, which means ‘network’ in Sardinian, evokes the intertwining of history, geography, technology and sustainability. The porcelain stoneware line stands out for its subtle details and visual narratives that arise from the creative use of authentic, locally sourced materials, offered in unusual colour combinations. Available in a 20×20 cm format in the Cannella/Bordeaux and Perla/Celadon variants, Reta represents a balance between harmony and modernity, between raw and sophisticated, in which colour and material interact with light and the surrounding space.
The exhibition space, designed by Studio Mamo as the brand’s artistic director, is a true sensory journey into the most authentic heart of Sardinia. Here, archaic signs, raw materials and essential forms coexist, recalling Mediterranean origins and conveying an idea of living based on authenticity and roots, without renouncing a dialogue with the present. The exhibition is completed by a collaboration with Plinio il Giovane, the brand of designer Mario Prandina, who has furnished the space with some of his most iconic creations, including the Day Bed sofa and the Eclettica armchair bed. The furnishings are upholstered with Ruffo fabric from Dino Zoli Textile’s REspect collection, a bouclé made from regenerated yarns from textile recycling and enriched with wool filaments, symbolising responsible design that combines aesthetics and sustainability.
With Mimesis and Reta, Abitzai confirms its ability to blend tradition, nature and innovation, offering ceramic solutions that speak of beauty, balance and respect for the environment, transforming every space into a unique and engaging experience.
