A look at the earth with ‘Be Grateful’ by Novacolor

At the Fuorisalone in Milan, Novacolor, an Italian brand specializing in decorations, launched ‘Wallpaper Collection’, its first collection of wallpapers, signed by the Architect and Interior Designer Barbara Sansonetti, and inspired by the morphology of our planet seen from above, for a journey to discover different landscapes and cultures.

The project stems from the new concept Novacolor 2021 “Be Grateful“, which promotes through color, a widespread sense of gratitude and reconnection to Mother Earth. It starts from the relationship of man with the planet to study how, between evolution and sense of survival, the eart has changed. After the ‘Joy Revolution’, which brought the beauty of Nature into the houses, it is time to give thanks for what is yet to come, based on what we are building in the present.

The Wallpaper Collection is the perfect expression of this feeling, from which 7 wallpapers were born: Huelva, Kansas, Fields, Barcelona, Nets, Karaba and Dehli.

“The design idea was born precisely from the vision of satellite photos of our planet and the beauty of some places that, from above, naturally form geometric patterns. Looking at the earth, the possibilities of extrapolating geometries to create patterns are endless. Cities, desert landscapes, endless expanses of water and irrigated fields become textures that tell us how man has interacted with nature to build a more comfortable and productive habitat. Inspired by these geometries, I developed seven original patterns that can be easily repeated even on large surfaces”. – Arch. Barbara Sansonetti, interior designer with an innovative approach to color and shapes, and Novacolor Ambassador since 2018.

After the success achieved with the launch of the Collection during the “Milano Design Week”, also the Showroom SantaSofia27 has chosen to marry the Wallpaper Collection.

SantaSofia27, located in Milan at via Santa Sofia 27, is the concept store of the GORLINI brand, a company from Legnano founded in 1951 and specialized in the production and marketing of tailor-made doors and windows. In a space of 500 square meters on two levels and with 6 windows, the location gathers a fine selection of brands and products Made in Italy to create residential projects. Not just a showroom, but an incubator of ideas and projects, open to the best Italian home design companies and studios.

“Karaba” and “Delhi” are the patterns selected to furnish the Milanese design space.

Karaba

A city in Kenya hosting the wonders of Chalbi, a small desert between oasis and dunes located in the northern part of the state. The “Karaba” pattern rediscovers the desert areas of Kenya with three warm colors and metallic details.

Delhi

This line draws inspiration from the city of Delhi and the geometric pattern created by the intersections of streets and homes in the Santosh Park and Uttam Nagar neighborhoods. The tones chosen for the pattern are dominated by strong contrasts between color and gold.

This year the brand wants to focus on the extraordinary human ability to convey nature in a form of human and social progress. Novacolor has chosen for years to invest significantly in sustainable raw materials, representing an Italian excellence that works with passion and expertise for a sustainable future. Its color designers have always been committed to the search for new decorative effects and innovative, high-performance products, formulated with respect for the environment and for people. The green approach is therefore one of the values in which Novacolor firmly believes and in which it continues to invest.

This is also the case with the Wallpaper collection produced with water-based and non-toxic inks, ecologically safe and free of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). The designs are printed on responsibly sourced, recyclable non-woven bases. The non-woven bases include a large percentage of wood pulp, therefore a natural fiber, from FSC – Forest Stewardship Council – certified forests, which guarantees responsible forest management and the utmost care for the environment, people and wildlife.
