Marco Gallotta brings Friul Mosaic to New York

Marco Gallotta, an italian artist who has lived and worked in New York for over 23 years, chooses the mosaic artisan company FRIUL MOSAIC for an amazing collaboration. Marco Gallotta expresses himself through a technique of paper cutting, drawing, painting and engraving in which watercolors, inks and graphite are applied to photographs and then combined with other materials to create compositions of great flair. In his hostory we find collaborations with partners such as Chanel, Vogue, Campari, Timberland, Nike, and well-known figures such as Ennio Morricone and Will Smith. He also participated in the creation of the short film “Waiting for Woody“, guest at the 77th edition of the Venice Film Festival as co-producer and co-writer, as well as one of the two performers in the film.

For this very special work, Marco Gallotta has requested the participation of FRIUL MOSAIC, attracted by the craftsmanship expressed in their mosaic works.
“We were delighted to pursue this compelling collaboration with Marco Gallotta, who has proven to be able to use our techniques with particular ingenuity.” – said Nicola Avoledo, Marketing Manager of the company – “The opportunity to deal with such an eclectic artist has been for us an experience of growth that, without a doubt, will allow us to evolve, thanks to this creative and modern flow put in place by Marco” – concludes Avoledo.
Marco Gallotta’s work is composed of Venetian enamel tiles of various sizes, colors and shades, cut by hand with a hammer, the typical tool that allows to obtain tiles of different sizes. Subsequently, the tiles were applied to a metal base: a complex, but extremely harmonious silhouettes cut out by the artist, in which each joint gives the image a pleasant movement and a balanced sense of depth.
