The vernacular dimension of Villa Medagliedoro

We believe in the ability of architecture to improve people’s lives and we do this through work that identifies the real needs of our clients, finding simple answers to complex problems. This is Cavejastudio architects‘ philosophy, which is summed up in the Villa Medagliedoro project.

Villa Medagliedoro is a demolition and reconstruction project of a single-family residence along one of the city’s tree-lined boulevards. The project builds a protected domestic space: it is blind to the main street and faces, with all the openings, an internal garden defined by the planimetric layout. The broken line is the ordering element that makes it possible to build, calibrating the dimensions of everyday living spaces. Developed on two floors, the staircase and the corridor of the sleeping area are conceived as a single space, transforming two distribution elements into a sort of gallery. The building’s rigour is tamed by the city trees that cast their shadows on the large wall of the façade, as if it were a blank canvas at nature’s disposal.
