Casa O.L.

Architect Ruggero Biondo of noLogo|architettura has breathed new life into a 200-square-meter penthouse on two levels in Novara. Although the apartment had been renovated ten years earlier, it no longer met the needs of its owners. The space was completely deconstructed and reimagined according to a new functional and contemporary vision.

The renovation opened up and simplified all areas: unnecessary partition walls were demolished, and superfluous additions removed, restoring the original “box” to its spatial purity. From this regenerated condition, a new fluid layout was developed by breaking down walls to facilitate movement and ensure a seamless, harmonious connection between the interior spaces.

Inside, a balanced material palette defines the identity of the home: floors, claddings, and vertical surfaces were entirely redesigned and rebuilt, shaping cohesive, elegant, and harmonious environments.

noLogo|architettura designed bespoke furniture, boiserie, and even concealed storage units, creating a subtle dialogue between aesthetics and functionality. An elegant home theatre, an ergonomic kitchen, and expertly hidden technical compartments: every element was tailor-made, achieving a refined balance of solids, voids, and unexpected details. Carefully selected lighting highlights materials and geometries, enhancing the overall atmosphere of the spaces.

The result is a penthouse that is both minimalist and welcoming—an elegant home that evokes the idea of a domestic hearth without compromising the codes of contemporary design. This project demonstrates how renovation can become a regenerative process, giving shape to spatial storytelling through light, atmosphere, and materiality.
