Ca’ De Vignasse, elegance in suspension between sea and memory

Arenzano, 1958. On the Ligurian coast, seventy meters above sea level, a pine forest was born that became an elite refuge for Milanese bourgeoisie. Today, that landscape between land and sea forms the backdrop of an intervention that intelligently and subtly revives the past: Ca’ De Vignasse, designed by Eligo Studio, is a project that reinterprets the history of a place through the sensibility of the present. The intervention involves a 650-square-meter villa spread over three levels within the Arenzano Golf Club.

The clients wished to transform a classic holiday home into a residence suitable for year-round living, capable of combining the elegance of Milanese taste with the breath of the marine landscape. The project rethought the internal layout, turning each floor into a privileged observation point thanks to four large openings that frame the Ligurian scenery and amplify its presence.

The design approach, faithful to Eligo Studio’s bespoke methodology, begins with the restoration and enhancement of the existing elements: materials, textures, and surfaces tell the house’s memory, giving voice to a timeless refinement. The marble and slate strips, laid out according to the refined taste of 1950s Milan, become traces and foundations upon which to build an aesthetic narrative characterized by sobriety, precision, and harmony.

The interior design translates the studio’s philosophy into a balanced interplay of materials, colors, and details: the combination of contemporary finishes with historical references creates a dense yet discreet atmosphere. Among the most emblematic features is the engraved relief map of a submerged island, hidden beneath the sea’s surface, embedded in the wall as a metaphor for an identity that emerges quietly.

The project presents itself as a device of vision and storytelling, a work that preserves the echoes of the place and projects its identity into a current, perceptive, and enduring dimension.
