AVRO by Martinelli Luce wins the Compasso D’oro International Award

Martinelli Luce won the Compasso d’Oro ADI International Award, the prestigious international Italian design award established in 2014, for its Avro pendant lamp. The award, promoted in collaboration with the General Commissariat for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, had the theme of the event as its guiding thread: “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”.

Inside the Italian Pavilion at Expo, the Avro suspension lamp, designed by Studio Natural for Martinelli Luce, won the award in the Design for Lighting category. The international jury, chaired by Maite García Sanchis and composed of Luciano Galimberti, Yongqi Lou, Mario Vattani and Matteo Vercelloni, highlighted how Avro perfectly meets the needs of hybrid spaces, offering a versatile solution that can be immediately applied in existing indoor environments without the need for system adjustments.

‘We are proud to receive the Compasso d’Oro for Avro, a lamp that combines functionality and design in an original way,’ said Emiliana Martinelli, President, and Marco Ghilarducci, CEO of Martinelli Luce. ‘With its integrated socket and diffused light, Avro embodies the Martinelli Luce philosophy: solutions that simplify everyday life with simplicity and creativity.’

The suspension is designed for private and public environments, with an electrical socket integrated into the lower diffuser that allows you to easily power devices such as tablets, computers or smartphones. The integrated dimmable LED offers diffused and adjustable light, transforming a dining table into a real workspace with a simple gesture.

‘The satisfaction of receiving the Compasso d’Oro International award with Avro goes beyond recognition,’ add Alessandro Paoletti and Marco De Santi, founders of Studio Natural. ‘It shows that an idea born from observing everyday needs can illuminate spaces and tangibly improve people’s lives.’

With this award, Avro joins the historic Compasso d’Oro collection, housed at the ADI Design Museum in Milan, consolidating its role as an icon of contemporary Italian design.
