On the outskirts of Catania, where the landscape becomes Mediterranean and Mount Etna watches over with its silent, mighty presence, stands Villa C, a project by Anna Polisano, architect and designer. In this place where nature sets the rhythm, the living space is shaped in harmony with the surrounding environment, transforming into a contemporary residence that combines comfort, harmony, and a sustainable vision of living.
Developed on a single level, Villa C is conceived as a fluid organism, where free-flowing floor plans and the hierarchy of spaces create a balanced relationship between functionality and well-being. The core of the house is a spacious open-plan living area that includes the kitchen, dining room, and a double-sided fireplace, serving as a central element connecting the day and night zones. This focal point, together with the natural light that fills the space, helps create a welcoming, dynamic, and refined domestic setting.
The sleeping area runs along a corridor illuminated with natural light, leading to bedrooms with private bathrooms, interpreted in an intimate and reserved manner to enhance comfort. The design emphasizes vertical development through the use of exposed wooden trusses, highlighted by tailored lighting that enhances the vibrancy of the environment. The neutral tones of the interiors serve as a backdrop to the light, which becomes a quiet protagonist of the spatial composition.
Outside, the architecture merges with the garden, which features private courtyards and a wellness area that guides the eye toward the pool and terrace solarium. The sensory experience is complete: views, light, and materiality intertwine in a journey that invites slow contemplation of the Sicilian sunsets. The house closes to the street with a system of wooden slats, ensuring privacy, and opens towards the garden with large glass panels that dissolve the boundary between inside and out.
Villa C is not just a home but an architectural gesture that interprets the landscape and transforms it into a living space. A project where every element—from light to materials, from furnishings to the landscaping—contributes to constructing a contemporary Mediterranean refuge, elegant and measured.
