A vision of sustainability and authenticity

In the hilltop village of Seborga, overlooking the Ligurian Ponente hills and suspended between land and sea, the studio POINT Architects has designed a residential project that places the relationship between architecture and nature at its center. Casa Verdé, completed in 2023, integrates into the delicate balance of the Mediterranean landscape, charting a personal path toward sustainable living.

The architectural composition is understated yet expressive: pure and proportioned volumes, light and tactile surfaces, and carefully calibrated openings to capture the Ligurian sunlight at all times of the day. The building does not seek to dominate but gently rests on the slope, fostering an empathetic dialogue with the environment and local construction traditions. Local stone, natural wood, and lime plasters become tools for authentic architecture capable of telling the land’s story without mimicking it.

A distinctive element of the project is the Gravel Garden, an outdoor space that functions not only as a garden but as a natural extension of the house. Here, typical Mediterranean vegetation—lavender, rosemary, cistus—coexists with a gravel paving that recalls the arid, fragrant paths of the Ligurian maquis. The garden is not mere decoration but a strategic choice: it helps reduce water consumption, promotes local biodiversity, and creates a contemplative atmosphere of rare perceptual quality.

The entire intervention embodies an idea of elegance born from meticulous attention to detail and design coherence. Sustainability is reflected not only in the choice of materials and xerophilous vegetation but throughout the entire process, from construction to interior design. Casa Verdé is an architecture that minimizes waste, respects the land, and builds a new way of inhabiting rooted in place yet projecting into the future.
