IKI and IKI Wood by Ceramica Sant’Agostino: materiality as a sensory landscape

With its new IKI and IKI Wood collections, Ceramica Sant’Agostino explores two distinct yet complementary material languages, united by a design approach focused on perception, visual depth, and the creation of contemporary atmospheres. These porcelain stoneware collections engage in a dialogue shaped by a balance between nature, memory, and technological innovation.

IKI stems from a reflection on Japanese aesthetics and the observation of light as an element capable of transforming surfaces. Drawing inspiration from the evocative imagery of ukiyo-e and the contemplative dimension of Eastern landscapes, the collection translates these influences into a material expression that recalls the fluidity of resin. The surface comes to life through subtle tonal variations and delicate nuances that create depth and movement, resulting in a soft, enveloping visual effect.

The colour palette features eight shades – Light, Pearl, Sand, Ivory, Grey, Clay, Sage, and Sky – evoking natural elements such as sand, clay, sky, sea, and vegetation. Carefully balanced tones help create harmonious environments in which visual continuity becomes an integral part of the spatial experience.

Available in 90×90, 60×120, and 120×120 cm formats, the collection features a Soft surface with a velvety texture, while selected colours are also offered in the Natural finish, designed for flooring applications in high-traffic environments. The project is completed by Onda, a three-dimensional decorative structure inspired by the movement of water, and by the Extra 120×278 cm large-format slabs, which expand design possibilities for continuous architectural surfaces.

With IKI Wood, the focus shifts to reclaimed wood transformed by time. The collection reinterprets its traces, irregularities, and narrative value through a contemporary lens that combines the authentic character of wood with the chromatic uniformity of resin.

The 5×30 cm format turns each element into a design module capable of creating dynamic and highly customisable surfaces. The texture recalls rough-sawn timber, while the continuity of colour contributes to a refined and cohesive visual identity. Different installation patterns – vertical, horizontal, linear, or Italian herringbone – allow designers to modulate rhythm and define the architectural character of spaces.

The colour range includes six neutral tones – Milk, Vanilla, Cement, Almond, Ecrù, and Smoke – complemented by three accent shades, Apple, Garden, and Arctic, introducing additional decorative and design possibilities.

Designed for residential interiors, hospitality environments, wellness areas, and workplaces, IKI and IKI Wood offer two distinct interpretations of contemporary materiality. On one side, the luminous fluidity of resin; on the other, the tactile memory of wood. Together, they form two design narratives that converge into a coherent vision of space, where technology, aesthetic research, and sensory awareness come together to shape environments with a strong emotional impact.
