Habitat Lago Maggiore by Gascón Studio

Set in Piazzogna overlooking Lago Maggiore, Habitat Lago Maggiore is a project by Gascón Studio that redefines the relationship between architecture, landscape, and high-end hospitality. Conceived as a scattered hotel across a 600 sqm area, the project interprets the site not as a simple backdrop but as an active component of the living system, where light, material, and perception become design tools. The architecture is built around a principle of deep integration with the environment: spaces do not impose themselves on the context but are instead permeated by it, transforming the landscape into a direct experience.

The lake becomes a generative element, a constant presence that informs orientation, openings, and the quality of interiors. Large glazed surfaces dissolve the boundary between inside and outside, while the spatial composition creates a fluid sequence between living areas, suites, and wellness spaces, where visual continuity becomes perceptual continuity. The interior follows an essential language based on authentic materials and natural palettes, where local stone and light woods establish a balance between warmth and rigor. Luxury is expressed in a quiet form, through proportions, tactility, and the control of light rather than through overt gestures.

Every technical component is seamlessly integrated and concealed, allowing for a spatial reading free from visual interference. The project operates through subtraction, removing the superfluous to restore focus on the perception of place. Light, both natural and artificial, becomes part of the architectural construction: it not only illuminates but shapes surfaces, enhances materials, and defines the rhythm of the spaces.

The project is based on an integrated approach that combines architecture, interior design, material selection, lighting design, and bespoke furnishings, developing a coherent system in which each element contributes to the overall experience. The spatial organization responds to a logic that balances efficiency and sensory quality, creating harmony between function and atmosphere.
