Venice is a landscape shaped by water, architecture and material. Along its calli and campi and within its historic residences, colours and surfaces tell the story of a culture where art, tradition and understated luxury have coexisted for centuries. This imagery inspires La Serenissima, the new collection by Serenissima, a Gruppo Romani brand, translating the character of the lagoon city into the contemporary language of porcelain stoneware.
The collection draws on traditional Venetian terrazzo, reinterpreted through large formats and three different graphic expressions. The base surfaces feature a subtle grain and come in Calle della Perla, Calle della Terraferma, Calle della Neve and Calle dell’Ombra. They are complemented by Accenti, with a more pronounced grain and stronger colour contrasts, and Intarsio, where larger inclusions establish a dialogue between the different shades in the collection.
The visual dimension is matched by a tactile one through Contour Tech™: 3D digital printing shapes a surface layer applied to the still-unfired ceramic body, modulating the material at different depths. Graphics and structure thus converge in a highly realistic three-dimensional surface.
The Natural R10 finish is designed for residential interiors, while the R11 version extends visual continuity to outdoor spaces. Both feature Mellow Touch™, the technology developed by ROMANI SURFACE LAB™, the Group’s research laboratory, to combine high slip resistance with a pleasantly tactile surface. The collection’s shades also allow combinations with other Serenissima collections and CIR’s distinctive small formats.
With La Serenissima, Gruppo Romani transforms Venice’s material memory into a tool for contemporary design: a surface where history, technological innovation and perception come together.
