Schlüter-Systems: invisible technology for outdoor spaces

In outdoor environments, water management is one of the most delicate aspects in ensuring long-term durability, stability and surface quality. It is precisely from this need that a residential project in Carpi, in the heart of Emilia, takes shape, where the terrace goes beyond its role as a simple outdoor space to become an integral part of the domestic architecture.

The project interprets the outdoor area as a continuous and functional environment, where aesthetics, comfort and technical performance coexist through the solutions developed by Schlüter-Systems. For the project, Schlüter-Ditra and Schlüter-Troba-Plus systems were integrated within the flooring structure to ensure continuous protection and drainage across the entire surface.

The system was developed starting from the waterproofing layer, on top of which Schlüter®-Troba-Plus was installed, a solution designed to perform a dual function of protection and drainage. Above this layer, the screed was created and subsequently protected by the Schlüter®-Ditra system, used as an uncoupling and waterproofing layer.

The Ditra membrane absorbs tensions generated by the substrate, preventing them from being directly transferred to the ceramic covering, thus increasing the reliability and durability of the flooring over time. The project was completed with the installation of tiles using a solid-bed adhesive system, within an integrated solution conceived to work invisibly while delivering high performance.

The result is an outdoor space characterised by visual continuity, living comfort and technical protection, where the technical components remain hidden, allowing only the architectural quality of the intervention to emerge. A project that demonstrates how the choice of advanced technological systems and expertly executed installation can play a decisive role in the quality and durability of contemporary outdoor spaces.
