Profondo Colore by Paolo Frello & Partners

In the residential project Profondo Colore, Paolo Frello & Partners transforms a 1950s Milanese apartment into an immersive landscape where colour becomes architectural matter. Located within one of the residences designed by Asnago Vender in the Arena district, the intervention completely redefines the original layout through a new fluid and hierarchical spatial organization.

The apartment’s approximately 160 square metres are reinterpreted through a radical gesture: eliminating the fragmented distribution introduced by previous renovations in order to create a continuous system capable of connecting the living and sleeping areas through a new spatial core. A circular vestibule becomes the distributive fulcrum of the entire project, organizing pathways, perspectives and functions within a coherent and enveloping environment.

Colour represents the true design device of the intervention. An intense and saturated blue envelops surfaces, walls and ceilings, altering the perception of space, which appears to expand and compress simultaneously. Paolo Frello uses chromatic language not as a decorative finish, but as a tool capable of generating perceptual tension and atmospheric depth.

Within this almost cinematic scenario, the Euromobil stainless steel kitchen takes on the character of a reflective monolithic volume capable of absorbing surrounding light and colour, transforming itself into a mutable and vibrant surface. The metallic materiality interacts with the dark oak herringbone flooring, a continuous element that reinforces the project’s spatial fluidity.

The entrance immediately introduces the project’s language through a metal and curved ribbed-glass storage element that integrates lighting and wardrobe into a single architectural body. More than a furnishing piece, it becomes a true scenographic presence anticipating the theme of hybridization between object and space.

The living room interprets the convivial soul of the house, designed for a couple passionate about entertaining and inspired by the clubbing atmospheres of the 1970s.

The bespoke dimension of the project also emerges in the details: from the black lacquered coffee table with smoked glass to the burl wood TV cabinet with bronze base and back-lacquered top, every element contributes to building a sophisticated and controlled atmosphere where construction precision and emotional density coincide.

In the sleeping area, the material research becomes more tactile and introspective. Fabric-clad wardrobes create a continuous and absorbent surface, while a mirrored sliding door perceptually expands the space and conceals access to the walk-in closet.

The bathrooms develop a refined chromatic dualism. Surfaces clad in tiles dialogue with custom-designed basins: the masculine bathroom is defined by deep and dark tones, while the feminine bathroom revolves around a bathtub inserted into a curved niche enhanced by warmer colours. The guest bathroom finally introduces an oriental wallpaper that accentuates the scenographic dimension of the entire project.
