By the end of 2023, The Student Hotel (TSH) will add TSH San Lorenzo to its growing network of hybrid properties in Italy. With the acquisition of the historic Ex Dogana site in the San Lorenzo area of Rome, TSH Group’s total investment in the Italian market reaches €450 million. The new hotel will open its doors in one of Rome’s most authentic neighbourhoods, which perfectly reflects TSH’s spirit of experimentation and lifelong learning: the neighbourhood is home to one of Europe’s largest universities and student communities, and is full of artists and artisans. TSH’s hybrid hospitality concept is designed to welcome students, tourists, neighbours and entrepreneurs to learn, stay, work and have fun, all under one roof.
Charlie MacGregor, CEO and founder of The Student Hotel, says: “We are very excited to have signed this agreement and look forward to opening our doors in perhaps the most famous city in the world, Rome. We kicked off our adventure with our first hotel in Florence in 2018 and last October we successfully opened TSH Bologna, despite difficult times due to COVID. Needless to say, with three more hotels in the pipeline, we love Italy! We are delighted to bring our idea of community to Rome and look forward to a positive impact on the San Lorenzo district.”
With an investment of approximately €90 million in the city of Rome, TSH San Lorenzo will be developed into a 21,000 sqm hybrid structure, including 444 rooms for students, hotel guests and young professionals, as well as co-working, meeting and event spaces where guests of all types can meet and exchange ideas. In addition, the project includes numerous green areas and areas dedicated to sports, events and recreational activities, which will be completely open and accessible to the public.
“This investment shows the confidence we have in the future prospects of the Italian market and in a city as important as Rome, despite the difficult times we are facing,” says Edoardo Volpi, Head of Investments Italy, The Student Hotel. “Our aim is to make a positive contribution to the cultural and urban regeneration process already underway and to become an integral part of the community.” The signing by the Notary was attended by Andrea Tota, Head of Real Estate Italia Development Italy, The Student Hotel: “With this development we hope to trigger a virtuous regeneration that will bring maximum value to an area of Rome with high potential.” For more information visit www.thestudenthotel.com.
