The Rebirth of Contemporary Architecture

After two years marked by Covid through the works realized in Tuscany, the third edition of the Prize Architecture Tuscany (PAT) takes off. The award recognizes and promotes those architectural works, both private and public, able to stimulate a reflection on the needs of enhancement and renewal of the Tuscan territory. Promoted by the Regional Council of Tuscany, Order of Architects PPC of Florence, Federation of Architects of Tuscany, Order of Architects PPC of Pisa, Foundation of Architects Florence and Ance Tuscany, under the patronage of the National Council of Architects.

Registrations to the call, available online at will open at 12 noon on December 3, 2021 to close at 24 of February 11, 2022. As in past editions, this one wants to reward research, the quality of design, the architectural work as a tool for regeneration, transformation of the territory, today more than ever at the center of the debate in terms of sustainability and the relationship between man and environment. Urban regeneration and, more generally, of the territory, depends as much on the quality of design as of construction. For this reason, the Tuscan Architecture Prize looks at the participating projects as an opportunity to shine a light on the entire supply chain: architects, clients, companies, each actor is fundamental for the development of the sector. The PAT is open to works realized in Tuscany in the five years preceding the publication of the announcement. Works created by individual architects or in groups, by public or private employees can be nominated for the award. To present the candidacy can be both the designer and the client, but also the company executing the works.

The prize is divided into five categories: first work; new construction work; restoration or recovery work; installation or interior work; work on public spaces, landscape or regeneration. Participants may only nominate one work in each category. A single work may be nominated in more than one category. The category first work, intended for works made by designers who are under 40 years of age at the date of publication of the announcement and only with a cash prize of 5000 euros, specifically wants to enhance the reality and the activity of young designers and open a focus on their growth opportunities in our territory. For each category will be awarded only one work, which will receive an award given jointly to the designer, the client and the company. The jury is composed of professionals and experts in the field: the architects Nicola Di Battista, Gianluca Peluffo, Gianpiero Venturini, Sofia von Ellrichshausen and the sociologist Daniela Ciaffi. The award ceremony is scheduled for June 9 at the Palazzina Reale in Piazza Stazione, headquarters of the Order and Foundation of Architects of Florence, where the exhibition of the winning projects will also be set up. The works will then be exhibited throughout Tuscany from September 2022 to March 2023.
