The first Biennale College Arte is launched

The first Biennale College Arte call for proposals is launched today, and the workshop will start in autumn 2021. The aim is to combine the International Art Exhibition with a workshop of advanced training, research and experimentation for the development and production of projects by emerging artists under 30 from all over the world.

The international call for proposals Biennale College Arte will be open for six weeks, from Wednesday 16 June to Monday 26 July 2021.
The call is open to young emerging artists under 30 years of age from all over the world (who are under 31 years of age on the application deadline), who have participated in at least one collective exhibition and whose work has been the subject of at least one solo exhibition in nationally and/or internationally recognised exhibition spaces.

Twelve projects will be selected and the artists will be invited to participate in a 10-day workshop dedicated to the development of the proposed projects, which will take place in Venice in October 2021.
The workshop, which will alternate individual and group sessions, will be coordinated by the Director of the Visual Arts Sector, Cecilia Alemani, together with curators and artists, tutors and mentors directly involved in the development of the projects with the participants.
At the end of the workshop the artists will have 3 weeks to work on the projects and deliver a final proposal. On the basis of the evaluation of the materials Cecilia Alemani will select up to four projects, which will have access to a maximum contribution of 25,000 euros for the realisation of the final work.

The works will be presented, out of competition, in the context of the 59. International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, Il latte dei sogni / The Milk of Dreams, curated by Cecilia Alemani.

The birth of the College for this new discipline is of decisive importance for the Visual Arts Sector of the Biennale. This programme of permanent activities, “beyond the Exhibition“, thus takes on an entirely new configuration, aimed at encouraging the development of new creative energies.
