The Bayeux media library is a 2,500 m2 building nestled in a green area that becomes the architectural link between the historic city centre and the new urban development zones. A place of exchange where knowledge is cosmopolitan and unlimited, open to all disciplines and cultures. The design by the Parisian firm SERERO Architectes began with a reflection on the use of the environments. The multimedia library is conceived as a large free platform with a long continuous shelf. A finished space that brings together an infinite number of sub-spatial organizations.
Artificial lighting is totally integrated into the architecture and plays a fundamental role in giving the right visibility to each module. It was created with SL789 ceiling mounted and SL764 recessed luminaires that provide carefully calibrated, glare-free lighting that avoids reading fatigue. The products have been made in a special version to integrate non-invasively with the structure, in fact the aluminium body of all the luminaires has been painted in RAL9002 to match the colour of the ceiling. A total of 94 SL789AB LED ceiling ducts, with opal PMMA diffuser for optimal diffusion and high light uniformity, form about 440 linear metres of light lines. At the perimeter of the building, continuous rows of SL764EB FRAME LEDs follow the large glass façade.
All the luminaires are controlled with DALI protocol to ensure precise lighting management both with pre-set scenarios and with the possibility of dimming the light according to the specific needs of a given moment. Tailor-made solutions for this specific context were created using LIGHT-PERFORMER®, the online software from PERFORMANCE iN LIGHTNG, which allows you to create a customised configuration of complex lighting systems in just a few simple steps.
