Designed by Corsaro Architetti, the Casa M-101 is located in Ostuni on a hilly plot in a particularly attractive landscape characterized by the presence of oaks and olive trees. The desire to maintain the site where the work was to be done intact, led the creators to think of a “suspended house” placed on the ground without touching it. The building is characterized by two protruding horizontal slabs that sit parallel to each other and form the “Portico”, a shaded area protected from bad weather from which to contemplate the view. To the rear a garden surrounded by dry stone walls creates a protected area (orthus conclusus) as a more intimate space for guests in the house. To guarantee high standards of energy efficiency the technological solutions adopted have been integrated and harmonized to achieve an architectural result without compromise. The use of local materials, limestone, oak wood and elements that call to mind the area’s building traditions such as dry stone walls establish a relationship with the territory without interrupting any sense of continuity.
