Working with China. Opportunities and exchanges in architectural practice

China, with its megacities and very high population density, is the world’s most built-up country, but it has only 50,000 architects, a third of the number in Italy. This is therefore an enormous business potential for our professionals, but one that is difficult to access.
To shed light on the relations and opportunities between the two countries, the Politecnico di Torino and the Ordine degli Architetti di Torino have organised the online meeting Working with China. Opportunities and exchanges in architectural practice – Where nothing is simple and everything is possible, promoted in collaboration with the TOChina Center of the University of Turin and the Italy-China Foundation.

During the meeting, the call for proposals was presented to select 12 groups of professional architects who will participate in a two-year training and accompaniment course for the Chinese market.
The meeting and the call are the first of the initiatives implemented within POLITO Studio, the project born from the synergy between the Politecnico di Torino and the Order of Architects, to facilitate professionals and researchers new international opportunities.

The POLITO Studio call for proposals envisages that working groups – made up of Chinese professionals, researchers and partners – participate in workshops of applied high-level training, with the aim of transferring to them skills and networks useful to apply for real projects and architecture competitions in China.
All architects registered in the professional register may participate in the POLITO Studio call; the form will be published on 8 February on the OAT website in the section dedicated to internationalisation. Applications are open until 8 March, and the results will be published by the end of the month, with a view to starting the two-year period 2021-2023 next April.
