La Casa dell’Architetto (The Architect’s House), Biblioteca Scuola Normale Superiore, Cantina di Guado al Tasso, Factory, GO – Giunti Odeon and Borgo di Torri are the six projects (with one ex-aequo) that have won the award for works realised in the five years preceding the publication of the competition, promoted by the Regional Council of Tuscany, the Florence Order of Architects PPC, the Federation of Architects of Tuscany, the Pisa Order of Architects PPC, the Florence Foundation of Architects and Ance Toscana, with the patronage of the National Council of Architects and the contribution of PB Finestre.
At the Palazzina Reale, the award ceremony and the inauguration of the exhibition of award-winning, mentioned and selected works.
An award to contemporary Architecture but with a special focus on its social function, in which all of society participates and in which it represents itself by designing its own cities and territory, seeking to promote a better quality of life even in individual aspects of everyday life.
The six winning projects of the fourth edition of the Tuscan Architecture Prize (PAT) were fully in line with the demand for capacity in the interpretation of the context, the social functionality of the works realised, the quality of construction and environmental responsibility, the key parameters of the assessment.
Out of the 119 works submitted to the Jury, the winners in the five categories – first work, new construction work, restoration or renovation work, interior design work, work on public spaces, landscape or regeneration – La Casa dell’Architetto (Collodi, Pistoia), Biblioteca Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa), Cantina di Guado al Tasso (Castagneto Carducci, Livorno), Factory (Florence), GO – Giunti Odeon (Florence) and Borgo di Torri (Sovicille, Siena). There are six award-winning projects for this edition because the jury awarded an ex-aequo in the restoration or recovery work category.
At the Palazzina Reale in Piazza Stazione, headquarters of the Order and the Fondazione Architetti Firenze, the exhibition of the winning, mentioned and selected projects was also inaugurated and will remain on display until 21 June.
The setting up of the exhibition in this fourth edition was the subject of a competition that saw the winning project entitled “La charrette” by architects. Francesca Sorli, Mario Del Gaudio and Giulia Zucca, which recalls – as underlined in the jury’s motivations – “with freshness and playfulness, the world of construction”.
As in past editions, this fourth edition has rewarded research, the quality of design, the architectural work as a tool for regeneration, transformation of the territory, today more than ever at the centre of the debate in terms of sustainability and the relationship between man and the environment. The jury for this 2024 edition was composed of architects Michele De Lucchi, Michel Carlana, Francesco Isidori, Claudia Mainardi and Prof. Emanuela Saporito, the latter elected president.
The Tuscan Architecture Prize is promoted by the Regional Council of Tuscany, the Order of Architects PPC of Florence, the Federation of Architects of Tuscany, the Order of Architects PPC of Pisa, the Florence Architects Foundation and Ance Toscana, with the patronage of the National Council of Architects and the contribution of PB Finestre.
