TOPTAGLIO: shaping the future starting from the past

Starting with demolitions has given TOPTAGLIO a unique insight into the world of construction, allowing the company to approach projects with a distinctive and original perspective. A unique story that shaped the company’s evolution in an unconventional way. A particular point of view that enabled TOPTAGLIO to stand out and look at things from a unique perspective. This background enables the team to find the best solution for every type of intervention. Present on the Italian and international market for 25 years, today TOPTAGLIO is a General Contractor specialized in building redevelopment operations.

Demolition and construction, two intimately connected phases for TOPTAGLIO

Before building, it is almost always necessary to demolish, unless there is available building land, a possibility that is increasingly rare and less contemplated today. The ability to give new life to an already inhabited place where, sometimes, it may be necessary or advantageous to preserve part of a pre-existing structure, comes from TOPTAGLIO’s many years of experience in demolition interventions, often complex ones.

Today, the company is able to manage every construction project in all its phases, from design to execution, to the final testing and the handover of the structures. A General Contractor with a team composed not only of engineers, architects, project managers, buyers, safety experts and site managers but also of skilled workers and craftsmen. Thanks to such a well-structured and extensive team, TOPTAGLIO can carry out urban and infrastructural development projects that fully reflect the current and real needs of society.

Materials recovery on construction site: TOPTAGLIO’s contribution to reduce environmental impact

Demolition teaches many things: one of them is understanding the importance of managing different materials in construction for the circular economy. TOPTAGLIO strives to recover materials, where possible, during the strip-out or building emptying phases. Approximately 95% of the waste produced on demolition or construction sites by the company, such as wood, iron, glass, and rubble, is sent for recovery. This allows to recover material that is reintroduced into the production cycle to generate new construction material.

Giving new life to materials previously considered waste means for TOPTAGLIO building a more resilient community, promoting sustainable practices, and, most importantly, fostering a cultural shift towards greater environmental awareness. TOPTAGLIO also seeks to optimize transportation by always turning to the recovery centers closest to its construction sites. This not only reduces the number of vehicles needed to transport the waste produced on site, but also the CO2 emissions produced by the vehicles used.

The importance of Remediation and Certification

The desire to build a sustainable future has led TOPTAGLIO to develop expertise in remediation, starting from Environmental Due Diligence (EDD) to site remediation. Over time, the General Contractor has acquired all necessary legal authorizations to operate in this sector. The company adheres to strict energy and environmental protocols, such as LEED®, WELL®, and BREEAM® systems. Additionally, TOPTAGLIO has obtained certifications including UNI EN ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001, certifications for categories 9 and 10B of the National Register of Environmental Managers, and qualifications for public works execution with the SOA OS23 Class IV certificate and the SOA OG1 Class IV certificate.

“Women in construction” a TOPTAGLIO’s initiative to promote inclusivity and diversity in construction

Having a different perspective from others sometimes helps break patterns or chart new paths. TOPTAGLIO launched the “Women in construction” initiative in the Summer of 2023, seizing a significant opportunity to promote inclusion and diversity on construction sites (as well as in offices). This project aims to reduce gender gaps in the construction industry by increasing female presence, ensuring an inclusive work environment that is increasingly rich and creative thanks to diversity.

An important goal for TOPTAGLIO: “Achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls” in the construction sector means moving in the right direction towards the fifth goal of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the UN’s 2030 Agenda.

“We are investing in training, inclusivity, and gender equality education,” says Paolo Ceresoli, General Manager of TOPTAGLIO, “to contribute to creating a fairer and more sustainable sector where everyone has equal opportunities for professional growth. TOPTAGLIO aims to set an example in the construction industry and inspire other companies to embark on the same virtuous path.”

TOPTAGLIO evolves also in communication with its new brand identity

It was necessary to communicate the evolution experienced by the company over 25 years of activity. TOPTAGLIO’s new brand identity, launched in early 2024, tells the story of this bold yet respectful renewal, fully defining the company’s values. The new tagline adopted by TOPTAGLIO is dynamic and impactful: RETHINK | REMOVE | REBUILD | REPEAT. These four important words emphasize the company’s expertise.

RETHINK. Rethinking a place, even before demolishing what exists to rebuild, is a necessary and strategic creative process to best execute a redevelopment project.

REMOVE. Removing what is outdated or no longer functional is a crucial step to make way for the new. Removal doesn’t just mean demolition. In the case of a contaminated site, remediation is necessary to redevelop the area.

REBUILD. Rebuilding is a decisive and impactful action for the future of the planet, but above all, it requires great responsibility. That’s why reliability is crucial.

REPEAT. It is essential to be able to repeat the entire process of rethinking, removing, and rebuilding whenever the time comes for renewal.

This evolution has allowed the company to gain a fresh perspective on the world of construction: “If we look at things from a different perspective,” explains Paolo Ceresoli, General Manager of TOPTAGLIO, “such as viewing a city from above, we can have a clearer view of the whole, as well as the individual details. We can envision streets and neighborhoods where new construction will rise tomorrow, where something will be demolished and rethought in a completely different way. This is part of a natural process that will never end and tells the future while carrying the past along with it. History proves this. The ‘’two T’’ in the pictogram, born from the new brand identity, capture this vision—a freeze-frame of a city in motion and continuous transformation. These are places that often intersect, not only in space but also in time, like two roads: familiar to us when we think of projects already completed, meeting others in their path today still unknown but that will take shape in the future. We already imagine them. Our ‘rethink’ is bolstered by the extensive field experience gained over all these years, enabling our professionals to always intervene effectively in every project.”

This narrative underscores TOPTAGLIO’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and forward-thinking in the construction industry.
