The design studio Studio Falù courageously tackles – together with the clients – the ‘youthful’ renovation of a flat designed for a long-living couple.
Following a complete renovation, the centre of the house is located in the central area, almost a spacious and light-filled “domestic agora”, with an open kitchen unit that introduces and delimits the view of the open space.
Three large windows frame buildings reminiscent of cities of different eras, creating the dimension of an aerial loft, light and suspended in the light.
The main space of the house should be the place where one shares and spends most of one’s time, and the personalities of the clients were an inspiration to generate this space. Their energy and vitality, although no longer young in age, supported the designers in generating a domestic square in which to share, welcome and relax together.
This central space is overlooked by rooms separated by full-height pivoting doors. On one side, a bedroom with ensuite bathroom, on the other side, a study, as well as a service bathroom at the entrance.
The materials used for the made-to-measure furniture are Oak for the living room column wardrobe, and Guatemala green marble and stainless steel for the worktop and kitchen doors respectively.
Underlining these full-height openings are two marble slabs in different colours, one in Guatemala green marble in continuity with the kitchen top and the other in imperial yellow marble in continuity with the top of the ensuite washbasin unit.
The floor is solid oak with a beveled design and regular laying.
A pattern that punctuates the large space like a skilful and rhythmic decoration.
