A 60-square-meter apartment in the historic center of Naples has been brought back to life through a renovation project that revived its ancient charm. The intervention, curated by **La Fotosintesi** studio, pays homage to the past while celebrating contemporaneity, seamlessly blending elements from different eras. The apartment, named **Paradisiello**, is located in a historic building in Capodimonte and was burdened by layers of materials and interventions accumulated over time. The project’s goal was to uncover and enhance the original features of the space, removing the superfluous layers to reveal its hidden beauty.
The walls were restored to neutral tones that evoke the charm of time, creating the perfect backdrop for the new furnishings. The original cement tile floors were carefully restored, adding an authentic touch to the context that harmonizes with the new design elements.
At the heart of the project lies the interplay of contrasts: material, stylistic, and chromatic. The surfaces were meticulously treated to recover the aged appearance of the walls, characterized by neutral and light tones that highlight the furnishings and decor. These elements, chosen with particular attention to iconic designs of the past, alternate with contemporary pieces, creating a blend of eras that narrates a story of layers and transformations.
Crossing the threshold, the apartment welcomes guests with an ambiance that immediately reflects the project’s vision. The walls, with their aged effect, tell the story of the building and guide visitors into the main spaces. Here, furniture and decor unfold along a path that combines contemporary elegance with vintage essence.
The final result is an apartment that not only restores value to the architectural heritage of Naples’ historic center but also offers a contemporary vision of interior design. The intervention, with its sensitivity and refinement, demonstrates how the recovery of the past can serve as a source of inspiration for living in the present.
