The Salone del Mobile.Milano 2024 has just successfully concluded, and the figures confirm record attendance: 361,417 total admissions (+100,000 compared to 2022).
Excellent results for the attendance of operators, which registered +26.8%, with 65.8% coming from abroad.
Compared to last year, media attendance also increased: 5,552 accredited journalists and media operators for a total of 6,778 attendees (50.4% from abroad).
The interest of the public of enthusiasts was consolidated over the weekend, with 32,567 attendees, confirming how a high-level offer, completed by an international Cultural Programme, is an unmissable opportunity for the community of design enthusiasts.
The number of Italian and foreign students also rose to 13,556: young people who, precisely on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the SaloneSatellite, an unstoppable “factory” of new talent, accepted the invitation to discover the potential of a sector that generates meaning and beauty.
The SaloneSatellite confirms the key role it plays in the internationalisation of the sector’s companies, in the value of relationship networks, but also in the catalytic force of an event that has transcended the perimeter of the trade fair dimension, driven by a second phase of re-design of the layout and visitor routes, which has involved some of the Exhibition’s pavilions and, in particular, the biennial EuroCucina / FTK, Technology For the Kitchen and Salone Internazionale del Bagno.
Commented Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano: “The 62nd Salone del Mobile.Milano exceeded all expectations: it was a record edition. We recorded exceptional results, thanks to the trust of an ecosystem that once again recognised the Show’s international leadership. With 361,417 attendees, the Boat Show reconfirmed itself as a unique event in the world, a bridge of unavoidable dialogue with new market geographies: an intercontinental city open to innovation, where competition accelerates the competitiveness of a key sector for the economy of the country and beyond. A great ‘factory’ of meaning and lasting value, product and employment, material and immaterial culture”.
She also adds: “In the re-design of the format and experiences, we have always kept both industrial manufacturing and visitors at the centre, trying to stimulate both with a top-notch Cultural Programme, capable of creating new connections between the strong roots of design culture and the definition of new visions of the future. The celebration of our SaloneSatellite, which has been intercepting and enhancing young talent for 25 years, confirms this. The success of this edition is also the success of the Biennales dedicated to the Kitchen and Bathroom, where research and development are the synthesis of paths of innovation but also the expression of the ability of the two sectors to intercept the habits and desires of everyday living. We have already started planning for 2025, with the awareness that the Salone del Mobile is an opportunity for everyone, for the wood-furniture supply chain, for Milan and for the Made in Italy system as a whole.
The important thing is that we continue to work together, large and small, companies and institutions, remembering the formidable intuition that has guided us for 62 editions: to make and be community. My thanks go to all those who have made this challenge not only possible but concrete, inclusive, sparkling. Like the blue velvet of David Lynch’s Thinking Rooms, a tribute to the generative thought that moves the world”.
Claudio Feltrin, President of FederlegnoArredo says: “This was a truly exceptional edition that rewards the extraordinary work carried out by exhibitors over the past year. Once again, the entrepreneurs took up the challenge and after 62 years, we can safely say that we are the undisputed leaders, capable of attracting design from all over the world to the pavilions of Fiera Milano, Rho, confirming the Milan Furniture Fair as the most important sector exhibition at international level. The secret? Genius, vision, determination and that unique ‘industrial craftsmanship’ that only our products can express. It is the companies and the wood-furniture supply chain that are the economic engine of this umpteenth success of which we are proud and which it is our duty to continue promoting it as an expression of the great system that is Italian design. We have done so and we will continue to do so in the knowledge that the Salone del Mobile.Milano is first and foremost a business fair that allows even the smallest exhibitors to show themselves to such a vast and specialised audience, which they would hardly be able to reach individually“.
