Belonging to the famous R Collection Hotels Group, the five-star luxury hotel consists of a historic building, the Villa, and a very recent structure, the Palazzo. The historic building of the Villa, recently renovated, overlooks the lakefront and has a private pier with Erre Water Limousine service. The reception welcomes guests in a bright and welcoming environment perfectly designed with comfortable and designer furniture. The Lago restaurant is an all-day dining restaurant and offers an open wine cellar with a rich selection of labels. A show cooking area has been created to create convivial gastronomic occasions. The restaurant has a veranda that can be modulated according to seasonal requirements. The mis-en-table is sophisticated, to enhance the prestigious presence of marble on the table tops.
In this area of the Grand Hotel, the basic colours are white, cream and octanium green – the hotel’s flagship colour – embellished with a touch of gold.
In the lounge, the original chandeliers have been retained to add a classic touch, enhanced by the elegance of the antique fireplaces. Period stucco work and the historic staircase, which has been rigorously preserved, add to the charm of the room.
Built on the architectural structure of an old convent, the new part of the Palazzo is the result of two and a half years of renovations and extensions. The structure consists of two underground floors where the car parks are located; the ground floor is dedicated to the swimming pool area, the gym and the spa, together with the hotel’s second restaurant. Three floors are occupied by the rooms.
The same colours as the old part of the hotel have been maintained in the rooms of the new structure, creating a pleasant stylistic coherence, designed by the Franco Pè di Carimate architectural studio.
The renovation work also emphasised links with the local area. One example is the American Bar Manzoni, in honour of the author of “Promessi Sposi”. In addition, the walls of the common areas and corridors are decorated with fine photographic prints depicting landscapes and views of Lake Como. The meeting rooms bear the names of characters from Manzoni, are equipped with eighty-inch video and have a capacity of 60, 80 and 110 seats respectively.
There are 34 rooms, including prestigious suites, in the Villa, while the Palazzo has 47 rooms, including suites of great versatility and comfort.
