The game of copper

A symbiosis of materials, textures and earthy colours that give a sense of emotional well-being accompany the entrance to a residence created by interior designer Susanna Cots on the Costa Brava. Entering this home is an invitation to discover the existential significance of every detail characterised by the asymmetry between beauty and emotional functionality. From the table legs to the texture of the leather of the drawers and the symmetry created by the breakfast bar, Susanna Cots offers an interior design reminiscent of jewellery. Particular attention has been paid to natural light, which has been central to the design itself, so that it is incorporated and enhanced.

The interior and exterior have been connected by different openings so as to perceive a harmony between what is happening inside the home and the changing seasons outside. White, the designer’s hallmark, silences the dialogue established between the different shades found in the details, such as copper tones, earth colours and the leather textures of the furniture. The same can be found in the kitchen and bathroom, both in white, with copper details. The designer opts for copper for the rooms on the upper floor, two complete suites, where the sensation that emanates is that of a warm embrace.

In the large bedroom, the clad walls containing a fireplace and a small desk, the same copper details are applied as in the office on the ground floor. The square sofa is designed by Susanna Cots herself, the design of the desk that matches the breakfast counter, the details of the drawers, the upholstered stools in the kitchen, the two sinks as two nuclei of family interaction, the taps that match the lamps, the headboard and the jewellery box all work because they serve a great purpose: wellbeing in the home, including respecting the rhythm of each person, and integrating the wisdom of nature.
