System M+ by FritsJurgens starring at Hotel Gerl in Wals

Hotel Gerl is a beautiful 4-star luxury hotel in Wals, a small Austrian town 15 minutes from the centre of Salzburg. The hotel makes guests’ experience unique by offering, in addition to cosy rooms, beach-inspired lounges, a private wellness centre, a fitness centre with three swimming pools, a multi-purpose club, a beach club and a splendid lounge bar: GERL’s View Club.
Over the years, thanks to the vision and commitment of the Gerl family, the hotel has been transformed from a modest bed and breakfast into a refined luxury urban hotel where traditional Austrian furnishings blend harmoniously with contemporary furnishings purchased during the owners’ travels around the world, testifying to the great care and attention paid to every detail.

Particularly important in this restyling was the renovation of the entrances, which are fundamental, especially in the hotel business, because they mark the point of access for guests and the first view they have of the entire structure.

We chose the FritsJurgens pivot door systems because we wanted crossings that could transform from a simple passageway into a symbol of anticipation and access to new experiences and encourage visitors to explore every room in our hotel,’ says Georg Gerl, owner of the hotel- ‘and the pivot doors equipped with the innovative System M+ hinges from FritsJurgens, enabled us to turn our wish into a fascinating reality, particularly in our View Club in the attic, where the doors blend harmoniously with their surroundings, becoming true symbols of fascination’.

The System M+ hinge from FritsJurgens actually allows these doors weighing over 200 kg to open at the touch of a finger and gently return to their starting position. The pivoting door equipped with FritsJurgens‘ System M+ hinge is clad with Wonderwall Studios’ ‘Leaf’ panel, a magnificent piece of artwork that not only enhances the beauty of nature with its organic shapes and vibrant colours, but also adds a touch of natural elegance to the space, taking inspiration from the thick foliage of trees.

Each panel is unique, handcrafted from European walnut and worked with subtle marshy oak, where the combination of different types of wood and the carefully chosen colour palette give it a special artistic appearance and create a harmonious, relaxing and inspiring whole. The Wonderwall Studios panel not only adds aesthetic value to the space, but thanks to the use of recycled wood it is a sustainable and ecologically responsible choice, contributing to environmentally friendly interior design.

A concern also shared by Georg Gerl and the hotel management, who are committed to sustainability and natural practices, with the aim of minimising any impact on the environment of the entire structure. Hotel Gerl, in fact, exclusively uses steam devices for cleaning, minimising the need for chemical agents and has totally eliminated the use of disposable plastics.
