The famous Straf Hotel, located in the heart of Milan, delivers its dehors into the capable hands of Duostudio, for a complete renovation of its spaces a stone’s throw from the Duomo.
Fifteen years after its opening, the dehors is reborn with a doubling of the space, now developing on both sides of the hotel, thus conquering the view that juts out toward the Duomo square.
The renovation of the dehors dialogues with the bar and hotel interiors by using the same materials as in the lobby, rooms and spa – such as brass, iron and leather – to which new materials such as steel, aluminum and smoked glass are added.
Duostudio designs the outdoor jacquard fabrics specifically for the dehors, in order to enrich the aesthetics of the environment and thus make it a welcoming space, characterized by an artistic mixité typical of the Straf Hotel.
A space that was previously purely operational and used as a small outdoor outlet for the bar area is thus transformed into an urban lounge with a constantly changing layout.
The finishes used to create the furniture pieces play with reflections and opacity in order to establish an open dialogue with the historicity of the place.
Added to this interaction with the urban context is the eclectic soul of the hotel, openly declared in the use of patterned and brightly colored fabrics, to emphasize the distinctiveness that Straf Bar has always wanted to offer the city in the creation of an environment with a unique character.
