Portuguese photographer Ivo Tavares, specialised in architectural portraits, captured the essence and forms of the new Steelform Factory building, recently constructed in Oliveira de Azeméis by the Lopes da Costa architectural studio.
Atelier Lopes da Costa was established in Ovar in 1989, and since then has brought its experience to bear on design and architecture projects, whether urban, landscape or interior and renovation.
The project developed for Steelform – Molds & Tools, Lda consists of the expansion of an existing production facility on the west and south sides, through the construction of a new pavilion and an administrative building.
The original configuration of the site led to a design solution focused on maximising space in the central aisle, while the area to the south was dedicated to the administrative function.
This area, facing the new main road, is highlighted by the curved concrete form of the building, characterised by vertical aluminium profiles and the industrial volume.
The corridor to the east, covering the industrial aisle, connects the administrative area to the existing building.
With a strong plastic component, related to the moulding industry, the design style is intended to convey a contemporary concept associated with the company’s brand.
