Starbucks Reserve Roastery arrives in Milan at the historic Palazzo delle Poste in Piazza Cordusio and marks the first Italian opening for the company which is planning other new openings starting from the end of 2018.
Conceived as a tribute to the Italian culture of espresso that 35 years ago inspired Howard Schultz in his creation of the Starbucks Experience, the Reserve Roastery extends over an area of 2,300 square metres and will display the process of roasting, preparation and blending of coffee right in the heart of Milan, the epicentre of fashion and culture.
The breathtaking design invites everyone to partake in an enthralling journey of discovery against a backdrop of tradition and innovation which are the leading features of Milan’s Roastery. At the entrance guests are greeted by an astonishing view of the space that embraces every phase of the Roastery experience. The bright colours that reflect the Italian fashion and design community accompany customers and during the day the space is transformed by natural light filtered through the glass ceiling.
In the heart of the space stands a fully operational Scolari roaster, manufactured just a few miles from the heart of Milan. To the right is the main bar, where traditional espresso coffee is combined with cutting-edge coffee bean innovations. The wood covering the bar has grooves reminiscent of a recurring theme throughout the history of Italian architecture and is topped with marble from renowned Tuscan quarries. On the mezzanine floor, the mixologists at the ArriviamoTM Bar create special cocktails behind a 10m long counter made from a single block of Calacatta Macchia Vecchia marble. To the left, customers can enjoy PrinciTM products, which has a wood-fired oven built entirely on site by a team of builders and skilled craftsmen.
