Pedrali, on the occasion of its eighth participation in Orgatec, the international trade fair dedicated to the office world held from 22 to 25 October in Cologne, proposes its ‘new visions of work’, which the company stages and concretises with eight new collections, including new products and extensions of versatile and adaptable families capable of representing design solutions for the new contemporary work scenarios.
New lifestyles and modern working requirements mean that the concept of workspace is increasingly inextricably linked to themes of flexibility, dynamism and functionality. Flexibility is now a priority, so much so that it influences both the physical arrangement of rooms, with new layouts and experiences, and the way we work. Today, the office is configured as a living place, nurtured by the intermingling and interactions between people, with the aim of enhancing productivity and efficiency, and strengthening corporate culture. The new workspace is no longer just a place to work, but a true cultural hub in which to foster a sense of belonging, promote discussion and sharing to facilitate collaboration, creativity and learning. The space is designed to accommodate and encourage different specialisations and interconnection.
Ergonomics also plays a central role: furniture must be adjustable and equipped with the latest mechanisms to adapt to the user, guaranteeing comfort and giving the person full control of their workspace, improving emotional wellbeing and stimulating creativity and teamwork.
Pedrali has always been committed to designing furniture that can meet these new needs and the challenges posed by the profound changes that the workspace sector in particular is experiencing. Through the #PedraliColoursofLightness stand designed by the Milan-based DWA Design Studio for Orgatec 2024, the company proposes its vision of the office, focusing on how furniture designed to be flexible, functional and sustainable can create workspaces that can be easily customised and remodelled to suit the needs of the moment.
Pedrali’s stand brings to life six scenes that reflect the diversification of contemporary workspaces: central are lounge areas and collaborative spaces that replace traditional meeting rooms, encouraging the immediate sharing of ideas and skills. Soundproofing is ensured by the performance of the materials used, with furniture acting as acoustic and visual privacy spaces, offering a flexible setup that can be transformed into a formal or informal workstation, reflecting the diversification of work modes.
A great deal of attention is also paid to common areas dedicated to employees, such as breakout areas or company restaurants, which are more and more aesthetically pleasing and equipped with every comfort. They are bright, acoustically insulated and configured according to actual usage needs.
Outdoor spaces also become an integral part of the office, places where one can work or relax. The interconnection of workspaces with nature promotes people’s psycho-physical well-being, positively influencing mood and productivity. This new concept connected with workspaces is rendered within the stand through a careful design of the greenery.
The entire space is defined by transparencies and characterised by the skilful use of colour and light materials. The approximately 700 square metre stand has been created with a gauze that allows the visitor to glimpse and perceive the interior. To accentuate the idea of lightness, a fabric veil recreates an almost transparent ceiling in a cerulean colour that, thanks to a play of delicate overlaps, gives an architectural rhythm to the area.
The sky-blue colour of the architecture acts as a background, while more intense and decisive notes of colour characterise the products presented, which are thus set off in the scene.
All elements used in the stand were designed to be demountable and reusable, thus maximising the durability and sustainability of the project. With a view to continuous regeneration, the elements of the stand presented at the Salone del Mobile 2024 were reused for the Orgatec stand. In its realisation, attention was paid, right from the design stage, to the materials used, optimisation of raw material consumption and rationalisation of resources, reuse and/or recycling of materials and disassemblability.
A look at #PedraliColoursofLightness:
#PedraliColoursofLightness opens with an initial room that recreates an office characterised by multiple workstations. The protagonist is the new Arki-Table Desk, a modular system of operative desks available with two, four or six workstations. Arki-Table Desk stands out for its linearity and rigour from a structural point of view, while maintaining a remarkable versatility that makes it suitable for multiple situations of use, both in traditional offices and in modern coworking spaces. The sound-absorbing, fabric-covered partition panels, available as optional extras to better define and separate the different workstations, together with the possibility of installing additional accessories such as the monitor stand and magazine holders painted in different colours, make the entire operating system highly customisable.
Surrounding the Arki-Table Desk are the Temps armchairs designed by Jorge Pensi Design Studio, characterised by a height-adjustable die-cast aluminium base with a design that is both essential and elegant. Through a modern synchronised self-weighting mechanism, capable of autonomously adjusting the intensity of the oscillation according to the user’s body weight, this seat guarantees excellent ergonomics and comfort.
Completing the space are Ypsilon Connect, by Jorge Pensi Design Studio, and Blume System, by Sebastian Herkner: the former is an elegant and functional self-supporting sound-absorbing partition panel, the latter is a set of furnishing accessories that echoes the collection’s sophisticated extruded aluminium profile with its characteristic flower-shaped silhouette.
An outdoor lounge area is also set in the same scene: the Nolita sofa and Nolita Relax armchair, both by CMP Design, with the Caementum coffee tables by Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato and the Twiny rug by DWA Design Studio recreate a pleasant open-air lounge.
The second room recreating a modern conference room features the new Laja 2 by Alessandro Busana. Stylistic simplicity and organic shapes define the Laja collection, which is rethought in this new version with softer, enveloping shapes that offer a chair and armchair characterised by a polyurethane foam seat with elastic straps and a flexible, welcoming backrest.
Laja 2 is combined with the Rizz Office aluminium table by Robin Rizzini, which guarantees strength and lightness at the same time. A structural solidity concealed by a cleanness of form characterises this table, which integrates the legs with an aluminium support structure concealed under the table top to ensure aesthetic lightness and maximum stability.
Hevea partition, by Victoria Azadinho Bocconi fits into the scene to separate rooms. Hevea is a versatile piece of furniture that allows nature to be brought into domestic and contract environments: it proposes a pot holder composed of a central steel stem to which polypropylene pots are attached, thus obtaining different configurations according to their number and position.
Here, the Frank table designed by Robin Rizzini and the Stiel armchairs by Sebastian Herkner create a meeting room.
Lamorisse lounge & sofa by CMP Design, on the other hand, create an elegant breakout area: a lounge armchair and a two-seater sofa whose main feature is the contrast between the soberly shaped supporting structure and the rich, cosy cushion. The structure, characterised by a rounded section armrest in steam-curved ash into which the legs are grafted, accommodates a generous and enveloping cushion.
A waiting area is staged in the third set in which the star is the new Plural Soft, the evolution of the Plural seat first presented in 2014 and designed by Jorge Pensi Design Studio. Plural seating, now upholstered, becomes even more comfortable and cosy while maintaining a minimalist and light design.
The collections designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, Buddyhub and Buddyhub Desk, create dynamic compositions within the fourth environment. A niche of acoustic and visual privacy, Buddyhub is characterised by a perimeter sound-absorbing panel that embraces the upholstery, creating a sort of refuge from the surrounding environment. Buddyhub is available in the armchair or sofa version, configuring itself as a temporary workstation that is reserved and acoustically protected. By placing the two elements opposite each other, joined by a panel to which a peninsula table can be attached, they create spaces designed for informal meetings and break-out areas.
This is also where the stool from the Stiel collection by Sebastian Herkner and the Polar armchair by Jorge Pensi Design Studio fit in, an operative chair that guarantees maximum customisation in terms of ergonomics thanks to the presence of simple and intuitive integrated mechanisms
Also by Jorge Pensi Design Studio, the new Diego coffee table is presented at Orgatec 2024, designed to compose new layouts in both work and living spaces, ensuring comfort and ergonomics when working and relaxing.
Diego is flanked by Busetti Garuti Redaelli’s Buddy Oasi, a system of generously sized poufs and sofas that maintain the contrast between the full volumes of the seat and the lightness of the slender aluminium frame typical of the Buddy family.
Buddy Oasi is the new indoor version presented at Orgatec 2024, designed to furnish the communal areas of collaborative spaces and relaxation areas. Thanks to its generous dimensions and various possible configurations, it guarantees comfort and flexibility.
Buddy Oasis is also available in an outdoor version with a waterproof and removable cover.
In the last scene, the protagonist is the new Rizz Workstation table designed by Robin Rizzini, the evolution of the Rizz table, in which the work surface is extended. A structural solidity concealed by a cleanness of form characterises this table, which integrates the legs with an aluminium support structure concealed under the top to ensure aesthetic lightness and maximum stability. To support large shelves, there is a rectangular column with rounded steel corners in the central part below the shelf, which also serves as a cable guide.
Around the Rizz Workstation we find the Elinor Low Back armchairs designed by Claudio Bellini, a multi-tasking product characterised by a high aesthetic quality capable of responding to the needs of a constantly evolving market.
The Boxie storage system by Claudio Dondoli and Marco Pocci and Ypsilon Connect by Jorge Pensi Design Studio complete the space, while Sebastian Herkner’s Blume System separates this room from a lounge area featuring the Jeff sofa designed by Patrick Norguet, the Héra Lounge armchairs by Patrick Jouin, the Blume coffee tables with Palazzo-finish marble chip top designed by Sebastian Herkner and the Twiny rug by DWA Design Studio.
