Panoramic House is one of the most recent projects developed by the Spanish architectural firm ON-A, whose orientation towards emotional design has enabled them to transform an architectural element into a real scenic element. The studio also applies intelligent and sustainable construction systems in its work.
The Panoramic House project in a detached house located in a coastal town near Barcelona, Spain. The building is isolated and consists of a ground floor, a first floor and a basement.
Due to the topographical inclination, it was decided to place the volume in the highest part of the plot, which is covered by low vegetation, with some shrubs scattered around the perimeter of the plot.
The living area is located on the ground floor, which includes a large living room, with a dining room and study-library area. In addition, the space opens up to a porticoed area, where we find the swimming pool and the garden.
The first floor is used as a rest and study area. The corridor leads to a single bedroom, a shared bathroom, a double bedroom and the suite which has a large dressing room, bedroom, full bathroom and access to the terrace.
All rooms have natural ventilation and lighting, guaranteed by the sunny side of the house.
The small basement serves as a car deposit and storage rooms.
The outdoor space has been designed as an extension of the interior. A wooden platform overlooks a large swimming pool and the access area, while the spaces between the platform and the land borders are covered with grass.
The roof contains the necessary elements for telecommunications installations and chimneys, as well as solar collectors for hot water production.
On the façade, the use of large prefabricated GRC pieces and angular geometries create a “technological look” that contrasts with the warm natural wood.
As for the construction system, a concrete structure is proposed which shapes the house from the foundations to the roof. To ensure adequate comfort, the house is completely waterproofed and insulated, covering the entire envelope with a ceramic skin.
