Padel Pavilion, the sports centre designed by Novembre Studio

SmartCityLife presented the new Padel Pavilion together with the Novembre Studio architecture studio.
Completing one of the most important architectural projects in Europe, after the buildings by Zaha Hadid Architects, Studio Libeskind, Arata Isozaki & Associates, among others, a major sports centre in the CityLife district will be built in the park.

The Padel Pavilion stands in visual continuity with the pre-existing architecture and in particular with the curves of the CityWave project: the building has a large overhang with a 17-metre curved overhang that invites the public into the park towards the entrance.
Externally, the surface of the pavilion consists of an upper part in Aluzinc resting on a semi-transparent polycarbonate base. The 12-metre high structure with a surface area of 2,800 square metres will include seven padel courts. Inside, there will also be a refreshment area and a raised multifunctional space, from which it will be possible to have a privileged view of the sports activity.
The latter will be directly and entirely managed by City Padel Milano, one of the most important and recognised realities of Italian padel.

The project presentation was attended by the Councillor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies of the City of Milan, Martina Riva, the CEO of SmartCityLife, arch. Roberto Russo, arch. Fabio Novembre, designer of the Padel Pavilion and Luca Molinari, architecture critic, director of PLATFORM and professor of architectural design – University of Campania, Luigi Vanvitelli.

Padel is one of the sports that is establishing itself with growing enthusiasm in Milan, Italy and all over the world,” commented Councillor for Sport, Tourism and Youth Policies of the Municipality of Milan Martina Riva. “After last year’s great success with over 27,000 spectators, at the beginning of December 2023 Milan will once again host Premier Padel P1, the tournament in which the best padel players in the international arena participate. This is why we are following the realisation of this new sports facility in our city with interest. The Padel Pavilion designed by Novembre Studio has the characteristics to become one of the leading facilities for the practice of this sport, both at amateur and professional level”.

Designing a building within the architectural park of CityLife was a great honour. I am happy to have designed a public space linked to the values of sport for my city.” Architect Fabio Novembre declared.
