Mountain hut house in the Brenta Dolomites

The cozy and warm feeling that can only be given by a hut in the middle of the mountains has been transported to the apartment design by Offstage studio through a wise study of spaces and materials. The apartment in Pinzolo overlooks the beautiful Brenta Dolomites and the layout of the rooms, two apartments on different floors joined together, was already partially determined. The design constraints helped to build strong relationships between the spaces, the rooms suggested dynamism, both in the relationship between them and in application to the finishes. For this reason the choice of two different qualities of wood, chestnut and fir, dialogue with clay-based plasters in a story that brings back to natural materials, alive and ancestral.

The idea of a house / refuge is realized through ceilings and furniture covered with fir strips and boiserie in stained chestnut panels, the same as the floors. The grey stoneware recalls the Dolomite stone. The woollen textile elements, found in every room, soften the atmosphere. Every detail is designed: the lightbreak, which screens the stairwell, becomes a lantern wall in the dark hours that illuminates the living area on the upper floor. The doors are handcrafted to give continuity of sign and finish in every room, convey the soul of attention to detail and tradition that you can breathe inside the apartment. The kitchen is a visible part of the living room and built with the same few materials.

Even the furniture of the sleeping area on the lower floor – beds, closets and bathroom containment – is designed and customized so as to keep alive for those who move between the walls the same feelings of welcome, protection and well-being. The lighting connects the environments and defines them according to their function but, above all, in relation to the time of day of their use. Wood dominates every room with its harmonious and material presence, making the refuge house a small dream world inserted in the majesty of the surrounding landscape.
