Mara, a company specialising in hospitality and contract furnishing, for office and community environments, pursues an ideal of the working space as a flexible and multifunctional place, with technical connotations and domestic aesthetics, which is able to present itself as a source of wellbeing thanks to a design that privileges comfort and colour.
The office and its correct design have been at the centre of great changes and reflections for several years now: the work space is made a hybrid place, between physical and digital, by new increasingly widespread methods such as ‘smart working’ and ‘working from home’. Mara understands the challenges that the office of tomorrow poses in terms of design and gives a clear interpretation of them with its participation in Orgatec 2024 through its own novelties for the working space, the result of four ‘author’ collaborations.
Ferruccio Laviani, Christophe Pillet, Marcello Ziliani and AMDL Circle, the studio founded by Michele De Lucchi collaborate with the company to create furnishing solutions capable of supporting the versatility of the contemporary office. Unmissable are some of the brand’s best sellers, such as the extensive Follow collection of tables with patented mechanical height adjustment system, now also presented in the monochrome version (i.e. fully painted in the same colour in the Desk, Bench, Tilting, Break, Meeting and Meeting Large versions), and the folding, multifunctional and space-saving tables on wheels of the Libro collection.
Orgatec was also an opportunity to review the four new collections presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in April, which are now being further enriched with range extensions to further accommodate hybrid work spaces and their constantly evolving needs.
The Typo chair, born from the encounter between AMDL Circle and architect Michele De Lucchi, immediately became a contemporary icon, thanks to the distinctive draping of the structure, the result of bending the square-section steel tube along the diagonal. The original model is now followed by new variants: the upholstered version, called Typo Soft, the wooden stool and the upholstered stool. An extended range of plinths is added to the collection, available with laminate, melamine and metal tops, 100% outdoor. Also on display, the exclusive Typo Limited Edition Arcobaleno model, made of Alpi wood designed by Konstantin Grcic.
Another beautiful new addition 2024 by Mara is Elle, born from the infinite creativity of Ferruccio Laviani. It fits into the environment with extreme lightness and an architectural appeal; the modular structure allows numerous compositions, while the L-shaped element that gives shape to the tops creates closed forms, i.e. containers or dividers, or open to obtain visible shelves. At Orgatec, Mara presented for the first time its evolution into Elle Consolle: a lower module that increases its versatile uses, such as entrances and passageways.
Then there is the Icon seating family, which since its debut has met with such incredible success that it has already won numerous international awards, including selection for the ADI Design Index 2023. Numerous variants have been created together with designer Marcello Ziliani – most recently Icon in polypropylene, also available in outdoor versions, and Icon High-back with upholstered backrest and cushion. And now also making their appearance are Icon Cantilever, available in both low and high backrest versions, stackable and can be accessorized with an upholstered cushion; and Icon quattro razze metal, featuring a four-spoke base in painted metal for a monochromatic configuration, available in both wheeled and fixed versions.
Christophe Pillet‘s Foil table collection also marks the entry of a new model, Bench Workstation, equipped with various accessories, such as drawers, cable tray and sound-absorbing dividing panels, and in the Desk version with a laminate top combined with a metal frame.
Mara gives clear representation not only of its enriched range of furnishings, but also and above all of its vision of all-round design, dedicated to workspace and hospitality, but at the same time able to embrace a more intimate context such as the home. A balance made possible by a minimalist and always elegant design, by smart and functional innovation, and by careful research into the wellbeing of the person and the environment.
