Mara Design Landscape

Design Landscape is the exclusive installation inaugurated by Mara on 4 October in collaboration with FENIX® inside the FENIX® Scenario space in Milan. It is an inspirational journey through Mara’s versatile design, sensory and colour, but architecture, beauty in all its forms that creates unprecedented experiences and synergetic encounters.
From Wednesday, 4 October, the day of the opening, and until 25 October, the interactive and design hub of FENIX® is transformed and recreates an urban landscape within it through an original and evocative combination of Mara’s collections for the office, contract and home. From the street, one can glimpse through the large glass windows the architectural geometries that rise up in the large exhibition space in a play of cross-references realised through Mara’s most iconic products and absolute novelties. Accentuating the ideal of an urban space is the rich presence of plants and vegetation by HW Style (a Milan-based company specialising in the creation of gardens and green spaces), which gives rhythm to the environment and draws attention to the fundamental importance of nature as a source of wellbeing in every living context.

The installation is the result of the long-lasting collaboration between Mara and FENIX® that also involves product development: exclusive FENIX® surfaces cover the tops of Mara tables, combining comfort and aesthetic pleasure. In addition, the two brands share a common vision of innovation, continuous research, sustainability and the highest quality to guarantee excellent performance in interior design.

The Design Landscape installation is intended to show how it is possible to create a true itinerary within Mara’s multifaceted and versatile design – which, from the office, corporate and hospitality world in which it has established itself over the years, now extends to the home-office and domestic living. It is therefore divided into four display areas, each representing a different interior context: the workplace area, with its aggregative and operative character at the same time, is dominated by a large convivial table measuring 9 metres in length, created from an extended composition of three space-saving and foldable Timmy Libro tables; flanking it are the Icon chairs (with high back and synchro movement) and the B302 Bench benches with comfortable upholstered cushions.

The living area inspires pure conviviality thanks to the Follow Meeting Cone table (characterised by sculptural geometries and a patented mechanical height adjustment system), for executive environments but also perfect for contemporary dining; it then surrounds itself with the new Icon chairs upholstered in leather, elegant and comfortable.
Space then goes to the lounge area, with its myriad of complements inviting one to relax: from the Follow tables with central base and the Follow Break coffee tables, to the Icon Lounge armchairs with enveloping backrests. Finally, the meeting space, where the ergonomic and height-adjustable Follow Meeting Large table of considerable size takes its place, accompanied by the Icon stools. To crown this display, a ceiling composition created with the B302 bookcase modules which, placed at different heights, create a playful and imaginative constellation, as well as a verdant one, thanks to the inclusion of cascading plants.

If, on the one hand, the intention of the installation is to inspire new expressions of furniture, on the other hand, it is clearly to stimulate a widespread sensoriality through shapes, materials and colour. FENIX®, first of all, with its distinctive properties such as opacity and soft touch lends itself to new shades, including the new Evora Yellow and Fes Blue applied to the table tops, which can dialogue perfectly with the painted metals of the structures. While the warm and natural nuances of the soft fabrics by Kvadrat and Gabriel create harmonious combinations, both contrasting and ton sur ton, between the various elements. Sublimating these aspects is the design of the products themselves, balanced between maximum ergonomics and minimal aesthetics, such as to instil palpable sensations of well-being in every interaction between the furnishing element and its user.
