Laminam, a manufacturer of large ceramic surfaces, celebrates with a huge event the doubling of its production plant in Borgotaro. On November 5, 2021, twenty years after its founding, the Emilia-based company has brought together local and regional institutions, personalities from the ceramic district, suppliers and employees to celebrate this milestone and reflect on the challenges of the near future. Laminam is in fact engaged in a process of growth aimed at changing the positioning of the brand: from a producer of slabs to a leading company in the complex world of Superior Natural Surfaces for Architecture and Design, ever closer to the market, to customers and to people.
The attention was directed to the present and the future, and with considerable positivity, thanks to the figures presented by Alberto Selmi, CEO of Laminam. In the five-year period 2014-2019, the Italian Group has in fact recorded an average annual growth rate of 27%, demonstrating the success of an innovative business model that differentiates Laminam from its main competitors. In 2020, the year of the pandemic, turnover settled at 2019 levels to record +43% growth in the first nine months of 2021, confirming extremely positive forecasts for the end of the year.
“In our evolution, we are inspired by guidelines aimed at excellence that see digital transformation, internationalization and sustainable innovation as the vectors of this new era of ours.” These were the words with which Alberto Selmi illustrated the evolution process.
The “digital transformation” for Laminam has to do with investing in professionalism and digital technologies to improve the Customer Experience. Whereas the principle of “internationalization”, which took its first steps with the opening of Laminam Russia, takes concrete form in an increased frequency of contacts with customers and in bringing the brand closer to people. As true ambassador of Italian design in the world, today Laminam has a production plant in Russia, 10 commercial branches and numerous logistics centres and showrooms all over the world. Its surfaces are distributed in over 100 markets and foreign sales are worth 79% of the consolidated turnover.
In addition to these two guidelines, there is also sustainable innovation, in which the Group firmly believes. To support it, they have an investment plan of over 50 million euros dedicated to the expansion and renovation of its plants through the use of innovative technologies developed together with its main suppliers and partners.
From the product to the people, from the processes to the supply chain: everything in Laminam is designed and created to measure and contain its impact, guarantee the health and safety of employees, and create and innovate products in an eco-sustainable manner. In 2021, Laminam adopted an integrated Quality-Environment-Safety policy, obtained ISO 14001 Environmental Certification for its Italian factories and extended EPD Certification to all its products, completed the study of the Company Carbon Footprint and published its second Sustainability Report.
