Lake Como Design Festival announces its fourth edition – from 17 to 25 September in Como – renewing its format made up of exhibitions, talks and events in historical, unpublished or forgotten places in the Como area and the city. The festival concept aims to establish an original dialogue between history, architecture, design and art.
The theme of this edition will be Neo-nomadism, a concept that moves fluidly between real and digital life: a reconnaissance of the new cultural and working nomadisms, those that have always been present in the history of mankind and are now linked to the economic divide and climate change. An investigation into how the constant movement of people is characterising this historical moment, also influencing creativity.
The programme of the 2022 edition includes ERRANTI, a group exhibition curated by Francesca Alfano Miglietti (FAM) that will see the participation of some of the best known Italian and international artists and designers.
Returning in this edition is the open call for independent designers, publishers and galleries dedicated to contemporary design hosted at the Casartelli Science Museum: all the works presented by the exhibitors will be sold through an online auction in collaboration with Catawiki.
Design will also be the protagonist at the Casa Bianca, a historic residence overlooking Lake Como and open to the general public for the first time, realised in collaboration with Galerie Philia, which will host a selection of designers within the spaces of the historic residence.
Journalist Prashanth Cattaneo was instead entrusted with the curatorship of the talk section at Villa Gallia, entitled Refreshment: a precious opportunity to meet and get to know authors and experts of Italian design in an exclusive location on Lake Como. Alongside the institutional sites, the festival also includes a series of off projects in the city of Como.
