The Italian Glass Weeks, held in Milan from 10 to 18 September 2022, and in Venice from 17 to 25 September 2022, is a festival dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of glass at an international level.
As Glass Weeks has united – with an invisible thread – the two cities, Milan and Venice are also united concretely through a creation conceived by designer Ascanio Zocchi. It is the Kotiso table, made – in honour of the festival – entirely of glass.
Milan is represented through the geometry and transparency of the table top and base. Its skyline in recent years has seen glass rapidly become the protagonist of the buildings that criss-cross it – such as in Piazza Gae Aulenti and City Life.
Venice is represented through the famous tradition of coloured Murano glass. The glass drops that cover the surface of the table are inspired by the colours of the Venetian lagoon that tint the greens and blues of the water with the gold of the sun and the pinks of dawn.
Milan with its transparency and geometry, Venice with the plays of colour that in this case become drops of lagoon melted onto the float sheet of tempered glass: every shape, gesture and colour takes on a new meaning.
