Ideal Standard presents the Sustainability Report 2023, which highlights the company’s important achievements for a more sustainable future. The document continues the path already undertaken and supported by the company with the last report on the 2022 activity: both reports are entitled “Together for a better future”, a name that represents Ideal Standard’s programmatic manifesto. Key achievements for 2023 include the reduction of company-wide CO2 emissions by 5,514 tonnes, or 5%; the removal of 41.5 tonnes of single-use plastic used for product packaging; and the publication of 5,000 Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to provide greater transparency to customers. One of the company’s main achievements is the zero-emission Scope 2 of the tap factory in Wittlich (Germany), which was reached thanks to the production of electricity from 100% renewable sources, also due to a solar park created by the company on site consisting of more than 3,000 photovoltaic panels.
An important contribution to the achievement of these goals was also made by the launch of the EcoLogic development project, which involves the use of sustainable supply chains and durable materials to create product categories that improve hygiene and water and energy efficiency. Jan Peter Tewes, CEO of Ideal Standard International, said: ‘We have been able to achieve concrete results against the targets set for 2022. I am particularly proud that we have continued to invest in improving production processes and the development of state-of-the-art products even in the context of an economic crisis.” Ideal Standard also ended 2023 with the award of a silver medal by the world’s largest sustainability rating agency, EcoVadis, which placed it in the top 25% of the best companies out of more than 85,000 assessed globally, describing its environmental performance as “advanced”.
