Studio Bettiol Architecture realised a project at high altitude, located in a privileged position on the Alpe Giomein, in the mountain resort of Breuil-Cervinia, nestled between the ski slopes and a breathtaking landscape: the Hotel Principe delle Nevi.
The design was divided into two architectural interventions and two identities, which gave life to an original and contemporary structure characterised by a well-defined concept: to offer its guests a unique stay experience, with a linear but at the same time sophisticated style and attention to detail.
The first phase of the Hotel Principe delle Nevi’s intervention dates back to 2008, followed recently by a second phase and the construction of an ex-novo structure consisting of the extension of the existing one.
Through this new Hotel intervention, the Studio, coordinated by architect Mariapia Bettiol, has been responsible for the architectural and interior design of this new area, with the aim of creating a modern boutique hotel characterised by a warm soul and a welcoming atmosphere
The two structures of the Hotel Principe delle Nevi are connected by an approximately 80-metre-long underground tunnel that crosses the mountain and becomes a wine cellar where wine can be stored and displayed, and where wine tastings can be held.
What characterises the new structure are exclusive spaces of significant size. Guests are greeted in the basement by a second reception area, a multi-purpose room for fitness and yoga, a luggage storage area and ski room, supporting the one already present in the original structure.
The new extension covers a very large area divided into several levels, with a total of 7 suites on the first floor, 4 large suites on the second floor and 1 suite of approximately 200 square metres on the top floor. On the second floor there is also a terrace with a solarium function, which can be used by all the hotel’s guests.
Each room features a private spa suite, consisting of a sauna or Turkish bath and a whirlpool bath, positioned externally on the private terrace, to give guests a moment of complete relaxation with total privacy and a view of the ski slopes. The bathroom area has been designed with the intention of harmoniously creating an open space.
Architect Mariapia Bettiol’s intervention also involved the original common areas, in order to accommodate a larger number of guests, and the Snowflake restaurant, with its refined and exclusive design, which brings guests into a comfortable environment in the name of a quality culinary experience.
The realisation of the furnishings, designed by architect Bettiol, sees a predilection for the use of wood and stoneware, which gives the structure a modern and elegant look.
For the external parts of the structure, the material chosen is large-format larch wood with sheet metal roofing. The idea was to create a non-invasive building that would blend in perfectly with the surrounding environment. For this reason, the basement part of the building was covered with rocks, between which the natural greenery typical of the Cervinia area was created, thus creating vertical green plays on the rocks.
