Hotel La Vetta. When a Project dresses the space

In the frame of a valuable and consolidated collaboration that lasts since over 20 years, the team of ‘Altrostudio Architetti‘ and the designer Marco Bedognetti coordinated by the Architect Steven Mufatti designed the interiors of Hotel La Vetta in San Domenico di Varzo, a ski resort located in the heart of the Lepontine Alps in Upper Piedmont. The Hotel was realized by the contractor Concreta based in Valtellina. In compliance with the local construction tradition, the new structure relates to the surrounding environment preserving its peculiar typological features and is articulated in three different building volumes that lie on the natural slope and fit well into the mountain landscape.

The careful research of design solutions gave life to a unique and exclusive interior design, which permeates the interiors of the 77 rooms (Standard, Superior, Deluxe, Junior Suite and two Suites) and of the common areas.
The rooms feature suggestive contaminations made with local natural materials, such as exposed stone and barked wood logs used for the covering of some wall corners and original dividing steles, as well as the delicate presence of elegant fabrics that refer to wool in various declinations chromatic and give life to a gentle, refined luxury, a source of intimate well-being in perfect balance between tradition and modernity.

The client asked to make comfortable common areas available to the hotel guests, a place where they could stay even one day long, for example in case of bad weather. Following these suggestions, the Architects designed every detail and the realization gave life to a scenographic sequence of intimate and suggestive spaces, each of them with a dedicated function. That’s how the Fireplace Room, the Reading Room and a TV Room with big screen, sofa and theatrical curtains for private projections were born, an ideal place for a quiet evening of relaxation while watching, for example, at the films of the day spent on the ski slopes.

In the Cigar Room and Lounge Bar the concept design is captivating and rich in different materials, waxed iron and sinuous curtains on the bar counter in bronzed metal fabric. The strong presence of metal is balanced by original dividers in birch wood with the typical light trunk and by special lamps to emphasize the effect. The Cigar Room features a cedar covering, with boiserie and furnishings that recall exotic and good-smelling atmospheres.
