For the Milan Design Week 2024, MoscaPartners has commissioned Studio Park Associati to design an exhibition solution for the new headquarters of Design Variations, a garage in the historic Darsena area of Milan, built starting in 1938 and completed in the late 1940s based on an idea by Marco Zanuso.
The Hemp_scape project is about the intelligent reuse of building materials and is characterised by the use of hemp cement bricks placed dry, forming backdrops with the purpose of modulating the indoor area of the large 3,000 square metre area.
An intervention that reflects the values that represent Park Associati’s design approach, “listening, intuition and experimentation”, translating them into an intelligent and environmentally friendly design process.
“Hemp_scape represents an opportunity to shine the spotlight on themes that our Park Plus research team has been pursuing for years, relating to urban mining and bio-based materials, with a view to emphasising the need for ethical, responsible and low-impact architecture. The entirety of the hemp bricks used, at the end of the event, will be put back on the market to be reused, thanks to a completely dry assembly that allows for rapid construction and de-construction, with zero impact on the environment” stated Filippo Pagliani, partner and co-founder of Park Associati.
A design project that looks at innovation and environmental responsibility, enhances the architectural volume that houses it by creating fluid and flexible spaces and, at the same time, is able to give a strong overall identity to the Design Variations exhibition.
